Important Safety Notice-Dangerous TikTok Challenge

Greetings Solomon Parents and Guardians,
We want to make you aware of a dangerous social media trend currently circulating on platforms such as TikTok, known as the #ChromebookChallenge. This trend encourages students to intentionally damage their school-issued Chromebooks by inserting items like mechanical pencil lead or other metal objects into the charging port or battery compartment. These actions can cause the devices to smoke, catch fire, or even explode—posing a serious safety risk to students and those around them. We urge you to speak with your child about the severe dangers of participating in such trends. Please emphasize the importance of using school technology responsibly and with care. Any intentional damage to school property may result in suspension, a citation for property damage, and full financial responsibility for repairs or replacement at current rates. Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a safe and respectful school environment. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school office.
Sincerely,
Mr. Correll, Principal K-8

Pinecone Project

In the fall, students in Mrs. Pascale’s class learned about seed dispersal, genetic adaptation that allows pinecones to open after a fire, and the difference between male and female pinecones. Several students brought in pinecones and Mrs. Pascale collected about 100 more. This spring in a spiral activity, students took the pinecones outside for some observation science. They sketched, sniffed, examined, and had fun ripping apart the pinecones to see what was inside. Click on the MORE+ to see additional pictures.

Solomon Community Day

The WBASD, in partnership with the Luzerne County Sheriff's Department, will be holding a special PAW it Forward Day to benefit the Sheriff's Explosives Detection K9 Unit. Students and staff are invited to unleash their wild side by wearing their favorite animal prints—leopard, zebra, cheetah, tiger, or any fierce and fun pattern! Just remember, all outfits must be school-appropriate.
To support our local K9 heroes, we encourage a $1.00 donation. Participation in Solomon Community Days is completely voluntary. Donations can be turned in to your homeroom teacher. Let’s show our wild spirit and PAW it forward for a great cause!
